Citroen Basalt SUV Coupe Launch Date, Design, Features

Citroen has taken the wraps of the highly-anticipated all-new Basalt Vision SUV-coupe, which happens to be its fourth model under the C-Cubed programme. Unveiled in the ‘Concept’ form, it is expected to go on sale ahead of the festive season in October 2024 in the Indian market. Citroen Basalt will be sold in both ICE and all-electric versions while posing a direct threat to the Tata Curvv, which will go on sale in the next few months.

Citroen Basalt Vision SUV-Coupe Design

The styling is heavily inspired by the C3 Aircross not just in terms of design but dimensions also with length of around 4.3 metres. The front fascia pays a complete resemblance to the C3 Aircross, save for the unique finish of the inserts on the grille. One can clearly see the same chrome-studded Chevron logo, dual-slat grille and faux silver skid plate. However, it carries more premium and model looking projector headlamps in place of the Halogen lights offered with the existing Citroen range. The LED DRLs as well as the bonnet are also retained.

As for the side profile, it boasts of squared-off plastic cladding around the wheel arches, pull-type door handles and a roofline which effortlessly integrates into the boot. The Basalt Vision SUV-coupe is presented with alloy wheels which come with a gun-metal finish. It is not known whether the production-spec model will flaunt the same pair of wheels. The tail-lamp cluster is newly designed too and a bit bigger than the C3 Aircross. Furthermore, it now boasts of new LED signatures. The bumper is offered in dual-tone black and silver finish.

Basalt SUV Coupe Features

The brand has not shared any image of the interior cabin of the Basalt SUV-coupe. However, it is strongly believed that it will borrow several elements from the C3 Aircross including the dashboard. As reported earlier, it will be a feature-rich offering with several bells and whistles such as wireless charging, automatic climate control, push-button start, cruise control, keyless entry and electric folding mirrors. Just so you know, all the aforementioned features were missing in Citroen cars sold in India.

Citroen Basalt SUV Coupe Specs

It will be powered by the same 1.2L turbocharged petrol engine with power output of 108 bhp, paired to a manual transmission as standard while a torque converter automatic unit could be offered as an option. There will be an all-electric iteration as well that will join the line-up about six months after the petrol-powered model goes on sale. An all-electric version of the Basalt will also be launched in early 2025. The SUV-coupe will be locally developed in India and exported to several other countries.
