Ather Rizta boot space and other details revealed

-Gets a big underseat storage area

-Has a front disc and rear drum brake setup

-Rides on MRF Zapper tyres

The countdown to the launch of the Ather Rizta has begun with less than a week to go and fresh details of the electric scooter have emerged. In the latest Instagram post, one can clearly see the underseat storage area of the Rizta and as expected it appears to be quite large. The boot looks wide and deep, and as per the video it can hold a half-face helmet, a bag, lunchbox and other knick-knacks. That looks like all the storage area that one may need on a regular commute to the office.

There’s also a nifty little storage bin just in front of the main storage area, which is also under the seat, and that can accommodate the first aid kit and a small wallet or some loose change if will. Ather surely has maximised all the available underseat storage area.

Besides this, there are other details about the Rizta that are clearly visible. Like the braking hardware, for instance. Unlike the Ather 450X that gets a disc brake at the front and the rear wheel, the Rizta has a front disc and rear drum brake setup. This is likely to have been done to not only keep a check on costs but also because the performance of the Rizta may not be as quick as the 450X to require greater stopping power.

Speaking of performance, the Ather Rizta seems to have a hub mounted motor, which again must’ve been done to keep costs in check. The specifications of the electric motor and the Rizta’s performance numbers will be revealed on 6 April at the Ather community day.

Lastly the scooter is seen riding on 12-inch alloy wheels, shod with MRF Zapper tyres. These appear to be the same as the ones that you see on the Ather 450 series. In fact, in an earlier teaser we could see that the Rizta is likely to have the same colour TFT display as the 450X. This can also mean that the Rizta will get similar features such as Bluetooth connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation.

Ather has taken its time with coming up with its first family-oriented electric scooter but it appears to be well thought out. Can it hold a candle to its chief rival, the TVS iQube? We shall know post the official unveil of the Rizta.
