Citroen Basalt vs Tata Curvv: Design Comparison

Citroen recently held the global premiere of its all-new Citroen Basalt Vision SUV-coupe, which will also be launched in the Indian market in and around the festive season of Diwali this year. It will at loggerheads with the Tata Curvv, which too, we believe will launch around the same time in the country. The SUV-coupe is a niche segment due to its unique design character and we don’t really see many products in this segment. Hence, in this piece, we will compare the design of both the new entrants in this segment.

Citroen Basalt vs Tata Curvv: Front Fascia

If we look closely, Citroen Basalt flaunts a dual-slat front grille with the chrome-lined Citroen emblem in the centre. The projector headlamps with LED DRLs are a big addition as other company models still come with halogen units. The silver-finished faux skid plate, muscular hood and front bumper are carried over from the C3 Aircross. The styling is indeed quite upmarket and classy, as you would expect in a Citroen car.

Coming to the Tata Curvv, it boasts of connected LED DRLs as we have seen in several latest Tata cars such as Nexon and Harrier. There are inserts on the grille and air dams while the headlight housing too appears to be heavily inspired by other modern company cars. In all, the front fascia is attractive but looks repetitive as we have seen the same design in multiple Tata cars now.

Citroen Basalt vs Tata Curvv: Side Profile

Both Citroen Basalt and Tata Curvv get a sloping roofline which by far is the best styling element in these cars. While the Basalt rides on gunmetal finished alloy wheels, Tata Curvv features 18-inch alloys. The Basalt comes with squared wheel arches which are flanked by a plastic cladding. As for the Curvv, Tata Motors has used piano black cladding near the massive wheel arches to make it appear sportier. Citroen Basalt carries the old-school pull-type door handles while Tata Curvv is equipped with advanced flush door handles. As far as side profile is concerned, both the coupe SUVs give a glimpse of the elegant state-of-the-art designing and it is hard to judge the better looking one.

Basalt vs Curvv: Rear End

The rear end of both the SUV coupes has an upright stance. The Basalt is presented with elongated rectangular shaped LED taillamps and a silver skid plate whereas the Curvv showcases sleek horizontal LED tail lamp bar which spans over the entire width of the boot alongside a silver skid plate. The boot lid is positioned higher than the bonnet in the case of Basalt, making it even more desirable. In all, the rear profile of both the Basalt and Curvv is as modern as some of the high-end European cars that we see today.
