The Pune-based two-wheeler manufacturer has launched the Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z in India at an introductory price of Rs 1.85 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Enthusiasts can book the bike with a deposit of Rs 5,000 at any Bajaj dealership. Deliveries are expected to begin in the first week of June 2024.
The new Pulsar NS400Z derives power from a 373cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine, borrowed from the Bajaj Dominar. This motor produces a claimed power output of 40bhp at 8,800rpm and 35Nm of torque at 6,500rpm. The bike has a top speed of 154km/h and four riding modes—Sport, Road, Rain, and Off-road.
Similar to the Dominar, the Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z features a 6-speed gearbox with a slip-and-assist clutch. However, one notable difference between the two models is the underbelly exhaust muffler, which seems to be derived from the NS200. The bike’s suspension setup consists of a 43mm USD (upside-down) fork with a gold finish and a preload-adjustable monoshock unit.
The braking setup includes a 320mm front disc with a 4-piston Grimeca axial caliper and a 230mm rear disc brake, supported by switchable dual-channel ABS. ABS can be deactivated when using the off-road riding mode. The Pulsar NS400Z also offers three levels of traction control.
The new Pulsar NS400Z is fitted with 110/70-17 front and 140/70-17 rear tyres. With a kerb weight of 174kg, it is 19kg lighter than the Dominar. The bike has a seat height of 805mm and a fuel tank capacity of 12 litres. It is available in four colour options: Glossy Racing Red, Brooklyn Black, Pearl Metallic White, and Pewter Grey.
In terms of features, the new Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z offers a colour LCD dash, new switchgear, and adjustable brake and clutch levers. The LCD console displays information such as fuel level, speed, gear position, trip meter readouts, and odometer. It also supports smartphone connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation, and call/SMS alerts.
