New Kia Carens Facelift Coming Next Year – Testing Begins

Kia Carens compact MPV has been a volume generator for the South Korean automaker ever since its launch in early 2022. Now, the model is ready to receive its mid-life update, likely to happen in 2025. However, the company has started testing the facelifted version and one of its test mules was recently caught on camera. The spotted prototype was heavy camouflage, covering most of its design details. The new Kia Carens facelift is likely to come with slightly revised front facia and rear end. We expect it to come with the redesigned headlamps with new LED DRLs as we have seen in the Seltos facelift.

To give it a refreshing look, the carmaker might equip the new Carens with the differently designed alloy wheels. The front and rear bumpers might also be tweaked. Similar to the updated Seltos, the compact MPV might get new inverted L-shaped taillamps connected by an LED light bar.

The model lineup could also receive a few new colour schemes. Currently, buyers have eight paint schemes to choose from, namely, Sparkling Silver, Imperial Blue, Intense Red, Gravity Grey, Aurora Black Pearl, Glacier White Pearl, Matte Graphite and Clear White. Minimal changes are expected to be made inside the cabin. The new Kia Carens facelift might get new seat upholstery and revised dashboard. However, its interior layout and features will remain intact. The three-row MPV already equipped with features such as a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with connected car tech, ventilated front seats, keyless go, wireless phone charging, rear view camera, one-touch electric-assisted tumble function for the second row seat, etc. The Carens’ standard safety kit includes tyre pressure monitoring system, hill start and descent control, six airbags, electronic stability control and ABS.

The new Kia Carens facelift is likely to retain the existing engine-gearbox combinations. At present, the compact MPV comes with the 115bhp, 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol, 140bhp, 1.4L turbo petrol and 115bhp, 1.5L diesel engine options. A 6-speed manual gearbox is standard with all three motors, the automatic transmissions (6-speed torque convertor and 7-speed DCT) are available with the turbo-petrol and diesel engines. With the mid-life update, the Carens model lineup could also get the electric powertrain.
