BMW Motorrad has launched the latest S 1000 XR in India. The Bavarian brand has brought its sports tourer in the latest edition and here is what it offers.
The BMW S 1000 XR is a thorough mix of practicality and sporty design. Taking inspiration from its supersport sibling, the S 1000 RR, it features a split LED headlight integrated into a sharp fascia. It is topped by a smoked visor and gets a chiselled bodywork overall. Owing to its touring purpose, the BMW S 1000 XR also gets a tall stance and an upright yet commanding riding posture.
BMW has powered the S 1000 XR with a 999cc inline four-cylinder engine that makes 170bhp and 114Nm. It is linked to a six-speed gearbox. Although the S 1000 XR borrows the motor from the S 1000 RR, it is detuned and makes less power. Keeping all the firepower in check is the list of electronics that includes colour TFT, riding modes, ABS, traction control, engine brake control, and more.
BMW has equipped the S 1000 XR with USD front forks, a monoshock, and a stabiliser. Its brakes comprise dual front and a single rear disc with dual-channel ABS. These are mounted on 17-inch wheels shoed with road-biased 120/70 front and 190/55 rear tyres. BMW will also offer optional accessories for luggage including panniers, top box, carbon fibre crash bars, and more.
The S 1000 XR can be purchased in three colour options — Light White, Black Storm Metallic 2, and Gravity Blue Metallic. The asking price for the BMW S 1000 XR is set at Rs. 22,50,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi). The bike now costs about Rs. 40,000 more than the 2023 model.
