New 7-Seater Family Cars In Coming Months

7-seater family cars have long been a popular choice among Indian car buyers, as evidenced by strong sales figures. These vehicles are favored for their spacious cabins, practicality, efficiency, and high resale value. While there are already several options available in this segment, four new models are set to hit showrooms soon. Let’s take a look at the key details of these upcoming 7-seater family cars.

Upcoming 7-Seater Family Cars

Hyundai Alcazar Facelift

The Hyundai Alcazar three-row SUV is likely to come in its revised avatar by September or October 2024. The updated model will feature slightly improved styling and interior while retaining the existing engine setup. Most of the changes will be made to its front fascia, which will feature a Creta-inspired grille along with new LED headlamps with a split pattern. Spy images have revealed a front radar, confirming the presence of the ADAS suite.

Similar to the new Creta, the 2024 Hyundai Alcazar facelift will have a dual screen setup with a 10.25-inch infotainment screen and a 10.25-inch instrument console. No changes will be made to its interior layout, meaning it will continue to come in 6 and 7-seat configurations. The updated Alcazar will use the existing 1.5L turbo petrol (160bhp/253Nm) and 1.5L diesel (116bhp/250Nm) engines.

Jeep Meridian Facelift

The Jeep Meridian facelift is slated to launch towards the end of this year. Subtle cosmetic changes are likely to be made to the SUV. The front grille could be slightly revised, as well as the front bumper, which will have new silver accents around the fog lamp housing. The new ADAS radar module will be fitted within the central air intake. Interior updates could be limited to new upholstery and trim.

The Meridian facelift will carry forward all its features from the predecessor, such as a 9-speaker Alpine-tuned audio system, dual-zone climate control, connected car tech, a panoramic sunroof, a 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless phone charging, etc. The 2024 Jeep Meridian facelift will come with a single 170bhp, 2.0L diesel engine with both 6-speed manual and 9-speed torque converter automatic gearboxes.

New-Gen Kia Carnival

The fourth-generation Kia Carnival will go on sale in India during the 2024 festive season. The MPV will feature a more upright nose with a new grille featuring chrome highlights, vertically placed headlamps with L-shaped DRLs, and a slightly revised bumper with a small air intake surrounded by a faux brushed aluminium skid plate. At the back, it will continue to sport the L-shaped theme with taillamps connected via an LED light bar. The rear bumper will have a blend of faux silver trim and matte black plastic. The MPV might get larger 18-inch alloy wheels.

The interior theme will be minimalistic with dual 12.3-inch displays, revised AC and audio controls placed below the central screen, front and rear dash cameras, a rotary drive selector, a digital rearview mirror, HUD, an updated digital key, and ambient lighting. In India, the 2024 Kia Carnival is likely to use the same 201bhp, 2.2L turbo diesel engine with an automatic transmission.

New-Gen Toyota Fortuner

The Toyota Fortuner, India’s top-selling premium 7-seater family car, is ready for a generational change. The SUV’s all-new model is expected to make its global debut towards the end of 2024, and its market launch is likely to happen in early 2025. The 2024 Toyota Fortuner will be designed on the TNGA-F platform that also underpins the new Toyota Tacoma, Land Cruiser 300, and Lexus LX500d. This architecture supports both ICE and hybrid powertrains.

The biggest change will come in the form of the hybrid powertrain featuring a 2.8L diesel engine paired with a 48V setup and an electric motor generator. Its combined power and torque stand at 201bhp and 500Nm, respectively. The SUV will be offered with both RWD and 4X4 drivetrain systems. In terms of features, the new Fortuner will receive ADAS tech, a vehicle stability control system, and a hydraulic steering system.
