Tata Altroz Racer Vs Regular Altroz – Differences Explained

Tata Motors has confirmed that the new sportier version of the Altroz premium hatchback, called the Tata Altroz Racer, will go on sale in June 2024. The model will directly compete with the Hyundai i20 N Line, which is available with a 120bhp, 1.0L turbo petrol engine. The prices of the Altroz Racer are expected to be quite competitive against the i20 N Line, which costs from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 11.49 lakh (all prices are ex-showroom). The Altroz Racer receives cosmetic enhancements over the regular Altroz along with a more powerful engine. Let’s take a look at how they differ:

Engine and Performance

Under the hood, the Altroz Racer features a 1.2L, 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine that generates 120bhp and 170Nm of torque. Compared to the regular Altroz iTurbo, it is nearly 10bhp more powerful and has 30Nm more torque. Transmission duties are handled by a 6-speed manual gearbox. The regular Altroz is offered with three engine options: 85bhp, 1.2L, 3-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol, 110bhp, 1.2L, 3-cylinder turbo petrol and 89bhp, 1.5L, 4-cylinder turbo diesel. For these engines, buyers get two gearbox options – a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT.

Infotainment and Features

Unlike the standard Altroz, which comes with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, the sportier Tata Altroz Racer offers a larger 10.25-inch unit similar to the Nexon. This larger unit supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, whereas the regular infotainment system has wired smartphone connectivity. The sportier version also includes a new fully digital driver’s display. However, the size of the unit remains similar to the semi-digital instrument cluster – i.e., 7 inches.

The Altroz Racer also comes with extra features, including:

360-degree camera
Ventilated front seats
Wireless phone charging
HUD (head-up display) unit

Exterior and Interior Design

The new Tata Altroz Racer will be offered in a dual-tone color scheme with a blacked-out roof, wing mirrors, and bonnet. White racing stripes on the hood and roof, along with a new rear spoiler, add to its sportier appearance. Inside, it will feature an all-black interior theme with red accents throughout.
