Ducati Streetfighter V4 S launch on 12 March

-Gets new Grey Nero colour

-Updated electronics and raised swingarm pivot

-1103cc, V4 makes 205bhp

The updated Ducati Streetfighter V4 S is all set to go on sale in India on 12 March. The announcement was made on the company’s social media platforms. The Ducati Streetfighter V4 S is, essentially, a Panigale V4 sans the fairing, has relatively upright riding ergonomics and the same engine albeit with slightly less power. It, however, is a manically quick motorcycle that has received a few yet notable updates.

To begin with, the Streetfighter V4 gets subtle tweaks to its design. The LED headlight with the V-shaped DRL above it gives it a menacing face, while the covers around the fuel tank have been reprofiled for a sharper appearance. The 16.5-litre fuel tank has been designed to offer more support to the rider while cornering and braking. The bike also gets a new Grey Nero colour with this update.

As is the case with any big capacity Ducati, the Streetfighter V4 S has a comprehensive electronics suite which has been tweaked as part of the updates. There are four engine power modes: Full, high, medium and low. Full and Low have been recalibrated with the latter limiting power to 157bhp and a gentler throttle response. In addition to these modes a new Wet mode has been introduced that is similar in configuration as the Low power mode but it also sets the V4 S’ electronic suspension to a softer setting in order to enhance grip. All of these modes and settings are accessed via menus on the new, colour TFT display.

Speaking of the electronic suspension, the Ohlins on the V4 S is one of the best that we’ve experienced on a fast, production street naked. It is absorptive and composed over bad roads, and with a few clicks of a button, one can stiffen the suspension for riding on good roads or the racetrack.

Besides the ride, the previous Streetfighter V4 S we test rode was remarkably good when it came to handling. But the updates to the chassis promise to elevate the experience. Ducati has raised the swingarm pivot point by 4mm. This has helped improve the anti-squat action under hard acceleration and at the same time moves the weight distribution slightly forward for better front end feel and accuracy, says Ducati.

Lastly, the 1,103cc, V4 features tweaked calibration to match the bigger silencer outlet that was created to reduce exhaust back pressure. This engine remains one of the most manic in a street naked, producing 205bhp and 123Nm. It is paired with a six-speed gearbox that features an up/down quickshifter that has been recalibrated for smoother transitions from one gear to another.

Bookings for the updated Ducati Streetfighter V4 S are expected to begin at the launch and the price should to be around the Rs 26 lakh mark.
