Royal Enfield Classic 650 test mule spotted!

– Will be powered by a 648cc, parallel-twin engine

– Could be launched next year

– Features loads of chrome elements including dual pea-shooter exhaust

The upcoming Royal Enfield Classic 650 has been doing many test rounds lately and has been spotted once again. However, the test mule was spotted with the rider and pillion this time.

It is no secret that the Classic 650 will take its design inspiration from the 350. Hence, we see the test bike sport a round headlight, round mirrors, a teardrop-shaped fuel tank, a split seat and loads of chrome parts. Moreover, the pea-shooter exhaust too has made it to the Classic 650 but on both sides. You can expect the headlight to be an LED unit just like it is for all the Royal Enfield 650 bikes.

We also know that Royal Enfield will power the Classic 650 with a 648cc, parallel-twin engine. It is the same unit that the brand currently uses for the Shotgun 650, Continental GT 650, Interceptor 650, and Super Meteor. It makes 47bhp and 52Nm and is linked to a six-speed gearbox. From our experience of riding all the middleweight bikes currently sold by the brand, this engine had ample torque which is suitable for cruising, and enough mid-range punch to overtake when necessary. Not to mention, this is accompanied by a thumping melody from the dual exhaust setup.

That said, unlike the other bikes in the brand’s 650cc stable, the Classic 650 will ride on conventional telescopic forks instead of USD forks. The rear end will get dual springs. Its brakes will include a single disc at both ends with dual-channel ABS. Royal Enfield will equip the Classic 650 with spoke wheels wrapped in tubed tyres.

Apart from an LED headlight, the bike’s features list will include a twin-pod cluster, a USB charging port, and a side-stand cut-off sensor.

We expect the Royal Enfield Classic 650 to be priced around Rs. 3.25 lakh (ex-showroom) and it will be positioned between the Interceptor 650 and the Continental GT 650.
