New Ford Endeavour in India – Is It Coming?

Over the past few months, rumors have swirled regarding Ford’s potential re-entry into the Indian market. These speculations gained traction following the cancellation of a deal with the JSW Group, which had expressed interest in acquiring Ford’s manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu. Adding fuel to the fire, recent patents for models like the Mustang March-E electric crossover, a new Endeavour, and a mid-size SUV have intensified the speculation. It’s important to note that OEMs often file patents as a means of safeguarding their interests and protecting their intellectual property (IP) rights.

Of particular interest is the sighting of the new Ford Everest (known as Ford Endeavour in India) being transported on a tow truck in Chennai. The latest generation of the Everest, already available in Thailand, was observed without any camouflage, painted in a Silver/Grey hue. According to reports, the Ford Endeavour might return to India as a Completely Built Up (CBU) unit, the assembled at the company’s Chennai plant. This strategy may result in a higher price point compared to its predecessor. However, there is no official word on Ford’s India return and product strategy.

The spotted new Ford Endeavour retains the ladder-frame architecture and certain design elements from its predecessor, it appears to share some styling cues with the Ranger. Notable features include matrix LED headlamps with integrated C-shaped DRLs, revised front and rear bumpers, an enlarged front grille, 21-inch alloy wheels, L-shaped taillamps, and a redesigned tailgate.

Inside, the new Endeavour will boast a 12-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, a 12.4-inch digital driver display, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, wireless phone charging, and a panoramic sunroof. Safety features such as ADAS technology, nine airbags, and a 360-degree camera are expected to enhance the SUV’s safety credentials.

Internationally, the new Ford Everest (Endeavour) is powered by a 2.0-liter turbo diesel engine generating 170bhp and 405Nm of torque, mated to a 6-speed automatic gearbox with SelectShift. Additionally, there’s a 2.0-liter bi-turbo diesel engine producing 210bhp and 500Nm of torque, paired with a 10-speed automatic gearbox with SelectShift. The SUV offers six drive modes and is available in both 4X2 and 4X4 drivetrain configurations.
