The 350-450cc motorcycle space is gaining notable popularity in India. In the last few years, we have witnessed some aspirational motorcycles offering immense usability, stand-out styling, and laudable performance as well. But which one should you start from? To answer that, we have listed the five most affordable 350-450cc bikes on sale in India.

Royal Enfield Hunter 350

The Hunter 350 can be the entry ticket to this segment and the Royal Enfield lineup as well. It is available in three variants and the most affordable one is called Retro Factory. Its asking price is Rs. 1,49,900 (ex-showroom, Delhi) and it is offered in a single paint scheme of Factory Black. The Hunter 350 uses the same engine as the Classic 350, Meteor 350, and Bullet 350, but the bike is lighter and carries less heft than its siblings. Royal Enfield has aimed the Hunter 350 as a much more Urban motorcycle that is nimble and can be used daily, by office-goers as well as first-time buyers.

Powering the Hunter 350 is a single-cylinder 349cc engine that makes 20.2 bhp and 27 Nm. The motor is mated to a five-speed gearbox. We also had the Hunter 350 in our long-term fleet and liked it a fair bit in terms of the engine character, handling, and design to a certain extent.

Hero Mavrick 440

The Mavrick 440 is Hero’s latest and most powerful motorcycle. Not to mention, with an asking price of Rs. 1,99,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi), it is also the most expensive bike from the Jaipur-based bikemaker. We all know that the Mavrick shares its platform with the Harley-Davidson X440. So, it gets the same single-cylinder 440 engine that makes 27bhp and 36Nm and it is linked to a six-speed gearbox. Moreover, the Mavrick is loaded with features like full LED illumination, a digital console with smartphone connectivity, navigation, call/SMS alerts and more.

It boasts neo-retro styling with a roadster design and rides on telescopic front forks with dual-rear shocks, a single disc at both ends mounted on 17-inch spoke wheels (base model). We recently rode the Mavrick 440 in Gujarat and came back quite impressed with it.

Yezdi Roadster

Yezdi updated its product portfolio last year and made some changes to the Roadster. While the bike retains the retro-styling, most of the work was done on the mechanical side. It received a larger rear sprocket to improve the low-end performance, new mufflers and a different exhaust note too. The asking price for the Yezdi Roadster is Rs. 2,06,142 (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the base model.

Powering the bike is a 334cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine and it makes 29.29bhp at 7,300rpm and 29Nm at 6,500rpm. Along with LED illumination, Yezdi has also equipped the Roadster with a fully digital console, hazard lights and dual-channel ABS.

Honda Hness CB350

The Honda Hness CB350 is priced at Rs. 2,09,857 (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the DLX trim. It has gained immense popularity over the years and is a direct rival to the Royal Enfield Classic 350 as well. Along with its old-school styling, the Hness CB350 packs a likeable thumper engine. It is a 348.36cc unit and dishes out 20.78 bhp and 30 Nm. The motor is packed with a five-speed gearbox and nestled in a dual cradle frame. It has features including LED illumination, a digital-analogue console with smartphone connectivity, and a traction control system too.

Jawa 350

Last but not least, we have the recently launched Jawa 350. This one is a successor to the previously sold standard Jawa. The new 350 brings a larger engine and loads of other updates too over its predecessor. The asking price for the new Jawa 350 is Rs. 2,14,950 (ex-showroom, Delhi) and it is offered in a single variant. Powering the bike is a 334cc single-cylinder mill producing 22.26bhp and 28.1 Nm.

We rode the bike in Gujarat and came back impressed with its strong mid-range that makes city riding quite convenient. Even in terms of tractability, the Jawa 350’s performance is good and it pulls ahead in a spritely manner. Jawa offers the new 350 in three colours – Maroon, Orange, and Black.
