Force Motors has started teasing the world with the upcoming Gurkha 5-door, which is slated to launch in the next couple of months in the Indian market. The 5-door version of the Force Gurkha will directly lock horns with the Mahindra Thar Armada (5-door), which is also expected to arrive at the same time in the domestic market. Just so you know, Force Gurkha 5-door has been spotted testing multiple times on the Indian roads.
Force Gurkha 5-door Design
First things first, Force Gurkha 5-door has been in works for the past two years. It will have a wheelbase of 2,825mm which will be longer than the 3-door version by 425mm. The testing units have revealed that the 5-door version will get a handful of cosmetic updates over the standard 3-door model. The updates will include newly-designed square-shaped headlamps which replace the round ones. The dual-slat front grille will be retained from the 3-door version. However, it will ride on all-new 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels as compared to the standard model’s 16-inch wheels. One can also expect subtle changes to the front and rear bumpers.
Gurkha 5-door Features
The cabin layout will be carried over from the standard model, albeit with some new features including a shift-on-the-fly 4WD knob at the centre console which will be placed near the driver’s seat. As far as Gurkha 3-door is concerned, it comes with individual front and rear differential-lock levers alongside a transfer case (manually operated) behind the gear lever. It is being learnt that the 5-door version will be offered in multiple seating configurations: 5-seater (two-row), 6-seater (three-row) and 7-seater (three-row). What’s interesting is that the 7-seater version will be equipped with a bench seat for the second row while the last row will boast of two individual captain seats.
Gurkha 5-door Engine
The Gurkha 5-door will be powered by the same 2.6L diesel engine which is sourced from Mercedes-Benz and already used with the Gurkha 3-door with a 5-speed manual gearbox. In the current form, this engine produces 91bhp and 250Nm of torque. The engine could be tuned for higher power output and torque.
Force Gurkha 5-door Price & Launch Details
The 3-door version, priced at Rs 15.10 lakh (ex-showroom) was discontinued when BS6 Phase II emission norms were implemented in India on April 1, 2023. Hence, we expect the 5-door version to come with a starting price of at least 16-17 lakh (ex-showroom) when it launches in the first quarter of this financial year.
