MG Motor India introduced the Gloster Blackstorm and Astor Blackstorm editions in May and September 2023, respectively. Now, the company is gearing up to launch the sporty, all-black special edition of its top-selling Hector SUV. Named the MG Hector Blackstorm Edition, the model will go on sale tomorrow, April 10th, 2024. The official teaser image reveals that the special edition will be painted in black with red highlights on the front and sides.
At the front, the Hector Blackstorm Edition features the familiar grille finished in dark chrome and piano black headlamp bezels. Red accents can be seen surrounding the fog lamp assembly, ORVMs, and some other body panels. The special edition comes with 18-inch black alloy wheels with red brake callipers and a ‘Blackstorm’ logo on the side panel. The piano black roof rails further enhance its sporty appearance. At the rear end, the MG Hector Blackstorm Edition gets smoked finish taillamps.
The black treatment continues inside the cabin as well. The Hector Blackstorm will have an all-black interior theme with red ambient lighting and red accents. Similar to the regular model, the special edition will come equipped with a 360-degree camera, ventilated front seats, Infinity-sourced music system, air purifier, automatic climate control, powered tailgate, electrically foldable ORVMs, auto-dimming IRVM, wireless charger, 6-way power-adjustable driver seat, leather seat upholstery, 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless smartphone connectivity, tyre pressure monitoring system, front parking sensors, and more.
No changes will be made under the hood. The MG Hector Blackstorm will use the same 1.5L petrol and 2.0L diesel engines, producing 141bhp with 250Nm and 169bhp with 350Nm, respectively. While the former will come with both manual and CVT gearbox options, the latter will get a 6-speed manual transmission only.
The Hector’s Blackstorm Edition will directly compete with the Tata Harrier Dark Edition, Hyundai Creta N Line, and Kia Seltos X-Line.
