Ducati Desert X Review – Image Gallery

The Ducati Desert X debuted as a concept almost half a decade ago followed by its official launch a few years later. Now, we spent an entire week testing it and here is our take on whether you should purchase the Ducati Desert X.

A glimpse at the Desert X and you instantly realise it looks quite different from many adventure bikes currently on sale in India. Often, adventure motorcycles focus on function over form but the Desert X seems to hit the right spot between the two.

Its dual-ring LED lights topped by a transparent visor give the Desert X a nice retro look. The white body panels with the red and black stripes on the side further make the bike look more appealing.

Powering the Desert X is a 937cc twin-cylinder motor that makes 108bhp and peak torque of 92Nm at 6500rpm. The engine is linked to a six-speed gearbox and is an absolute hoot to ride. While the Desert X gets a bunch of riding modes, we feel the Sports mode is the most fun and punchy.

There is adequate low-end torque and you can let the bike crawl in the city traffic. Moreover, even though the Desert X looks big and hefty, it handles quite well. It’s almost surprising how well the bike flicks around.

Not to mention, Ducati has packed the Desert X with loads of features. From LED illumination to six ride modes, three ABS levels, traction control, engine braking control, cornering ABS, quickshifter, and cruise control too.

Ducati has designed the Desert X’s rider seat to be narrow at the front which makes it easy for the rider to put his/her feet down. Though you sit upright, the position is commanding enough.

The Desert X gets a 21-inch front and an 18-inch spoke wheel at the back. This makes it convenient to ride over bad and broken roads without hesitation.

But should you spend Rs. 23 lakh (on-road) to purchase the Ducati Desert X? Well, check out our first ride review to find out.
