BMW R18 based R nineT retro-naked bike to be unveiled tomorrow

– Will be powered by a 1,800cc boxer-twin motor

– To be unveiled at the Concorso d’Eleganza 2024 tomorrow

BMW Motorrad has been teasing a new ‘Big Boxer’ naked bike for the global market. The German bike maker is working on a new retro-naked motorcycle, based on the R18’s massive 1800cc boxer-twin engine. The bike will make its world premiere tomorrow in Europe at the Concorso d’Eleganza 2024.

BMW has released a teaser of the motorcycle, which reveals some key details. The design ditches the cruiser styling for a bobber-inspired floating single seat that appears to sit above the rear monoshock. An earlier teaser image released by BMW Motorrad’s CEO, Markus Flasch has revealed the right cylinder of the 1800cc boxer engine and the aluminium fuel tank, which is similar in design to the R nineT. The bike will feature wide handlebars and an adjustable upside-down fork for a sporty riding position.

Likely to be called the BMW R18 R nineT, the retro-naked bike will sport a wide rear tyre and an open drive shaft from the BMW R18 cruiser. Powering the motorcycle will be a 1,802cc, air/oil-cooled boxer twin engine that produces a maximum output of 91bhp and 158Nm on the BMW R18 cruiser. Whether or not it will carry the same state of tune remains to be seen.
