The launch of the Nissan X-Trail in India has been uncertain for years. Dismissing all rumors, the Japanese automaker unveiled the X-Trail SUV alongside the Qashqai and Juke in October 2022. In fact, the X-Trail and Qashqai were even spotted testing in the country. However, no further developments have occurred since then. Surprisingly, a recent media report indicates that Nissan will launch the fourth-generation X-Trail in India by June or July 2024. It will make its way via the CBU (Completely Built-Up Unit) route and will be sold in limited numbers under the government’s new homologation policy.
Interestingly, the new Nissan SUV will be introduced only with the 1.5L, 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine that produces 204bhp and 305Nm. The motor will be paired with a CVT gearbox. There will be no mild hybrid or strong hybrid (Nissan’s e-Power) powertrain on offer. However, the report states that Nissan might consider the X-Trail hybrid for India at a later stage.
Let’s take a look at key details of the upcoming Nissan X-Trail SUV. Dimensionally, the model measures 4680mm in length, 2065mm in width, and 1725mm in height with a wheelbase of 2705mm. Compared to its predecessor, the new-gen model is 10mm shorter, 20mm wider, and 15mm lower. The 5-seater SUV offers a boot capacity of 585 liters, while its three-row version promises 456 liters of cargo space.
Some of its key features include a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, a power steering unit, a 360-degree camera, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.8-inch HUD (head-up display) unit, ambient lighting, a 10-way powered front passenger seat with power lumbar support, a wireless phone charger, an electronic parking brake, tri-zone climate control, an electric tailgate, and LED headlamps.
The global-spec Nissan X-Trail gets an autonomous emergency braking system as standard, along with blind spot assist, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, a reversing camera, rear parking sensors, automatic high beam, traffic sign recognition, and seven airbags.
