Ola Electric dominates almost 50 per cent of EV segment in May

– Ola Electric registered 49 per cent of EVs in May

– 37,191 units sold last month

– Sells three models in India

Ola Electric has reported an excellent May. The company registered a total of 37,191 units of electric scooters in May, which is 49 per cent of the overall EV registrations.

This is the first time the company has reported such a large registration number. However, the overall retail sales figures are likely to be different and mostly the overall segment share will be lesser than the reported registration numbers.

Ola Electric has managed to cater to a wider audience base in India, and as a result, it has managed to become the largest electric two-wheeler maker in the country. The most affordable model – the S1 X retails at Rs 81,818 on-road Mumbai and their most expensive model, the S1 Pro has a price tag of Rs 1,45,669. There’s a gap of Rs 63,851 between these two models, and due to this, the company has been able to reach out to various Indian consumers.

The second and the third spot in the EV segment is dominated by TVS and Bajaj respectively. However, these mass market brands haven’t been able to get the retail sales numbers like Ola. This is purely because Ola’s brand recall and value have gone to a really good level, and as a result of that, every Indian household want to explore Ola first, whenever there are talks of purchasing an electric scooter. This trend is likely to go up as the festive season is just a few months away and Ola always comes out with decent offers.
