The Carens facelift gets redesigned headlamps, similar to newer Kia models, and seems to be connected. The prototype also gets a 360-degree camera, and the alloy wheels are also new.

Although the rear-end is fully wrapped, one can still easily make out the new vertical tail-lamps. That said, a previous test mule spied in Korea featured a different LED pattern for the tail-lamps. It will be interesting to see if Kia brings any significant changes to the upcoming Carens facelift’s cabin, although it will likely be equipped with new features and first-in-segment ADAS tech.

Kia Carens facelift powertrain

No changes are expected to the Carens' powertrains. It will continue with the 115hp, 1.5-litre NA petrol; 160hp, 1.5-litre turbo-petrol; and 116hp, 1.5-litre diesel powertrains. Gearbox options include a 6-speed manual, 6-speed iMT, a 6-speed torque converter automatic and a 7-speed dual-clutch auto.

Kia Carens facelift: launch, expected price, rivals

The pre-facelift Kia Carens is priced from Rs 10.52 lakh to Rs 19.67 lakh (ex-showroom), however, the facelift will get a slight price hike due to these changes. Upon launch next year, the Carens will continue to rival the Maruti Suzuki XL6, Mahindra Marazzo, Maruti Ertiga, Toyota Rumion and the Toyota Innova Crysta.

Kia Carens EV in the pipeline too

As we reported earlier, Kia is also working on a Carens-based EV (codenamed KY-EV) for India, which is expected to launch in the second half of next year. It will likely be equipped with a similar battery size and motor as the upcoming Hyundai Creta EV that will be launched next January.
