MG Cloud EV Launch By Mid September – What to Expect?

MG is all set to bring in its third electric offering in India in the second half this year. Called the MG Cloud EV, the model is reported to make its debut by mid September 2024, followed by its market launch. In the company’s product portfolio, it will sit between the MG Comet and MG ZS EV, which are priced between Rs 6.99 lakh – Rs 9.53 lakh and Rs 18.98 lakh – Rs 25.44 lakh (all, ex-showroom).  The Cloud EV prices are likely to be under Rs 20 lakh. We have already seen the leaked patent and spy images of its test mules, giving us a fair idea of its exterior styling. Read: MG To Launch Tata Tiago EV Rival

For those not in the know, the MG Cloud EV is sold under the Wuling and Baojun brand names in Indonesia and China, respectively. The model will measure around 4.3 metres in length and have a 2,700mm long wheelbase. It carries MPV-ish stance with minimalistic design language featuring full-width LED light bars at the front and rear, headlamps mounted on the front bumper, flush door handles, short overhangs flush door handles, short overhangs and wrap around glasshouse.

Despite the compact dimensions, the Cloud EV will have 5-seats layout. The minimalistic design approach will continue inside the cabin as well. The major attraction is the floating screens with a large centrally mounted touchscreen and a digital display for the instrument cluster. There will be a fully reclined front seat backrest – called “sofa mode with 135-degree backseat recline”. In Indonesia, the Cloud EV is offered with a 360 degree camera and ADAS tech.

In global markets, the MG Cloud EV is available with two battery packs – a 37.9kWh and 50.6kWh – offering range of 360km and 460km, respectively. The powertrain setup also includes permanent magnet synchronous motor, fitted at the front axle, producing power worth 134hbp. As of now, there is no clarity on which version will be brought to India.
