2024 Jawa 42 Bobber | Ownership Review | Stories of Legends

The 2024 Jawa 42 Bobber is the absolute last word in individualism. Its popularity is, therefore, most unsurprising – because it’s simply got such timeless proportions! That single seat, neatly tucked-in exhausts, and just its low and long stance make it utterly unique and one-of-a-kind.

There’s more to it than the way it looks, of course. With its powerful new Alpha2 engine, the 42 Bobber lets you explore comfortably, no matter how far you intend to go. It’s this blend, of distinct style and substance, that gets you a deeply personal experience. An experience that comfortably sets the Bobber apart.

The 2024 42 Bobber revives a charming format of motorcycle – the bobber, as we know it – and then executes it with finesse and flair. It’s built to capture the essence of a solo journey and to celebrate independence, things that really matter to the legend we’re meeting today.

Prathamesh Jog makes his own decisions. A man of few words, he believes in getting things done. To his friends, PJ is the nicest guy they know but he keeps his riding pursuits strictly solo. Needless to say, he swears by his Jawa 42 Bobber.

‘I want to keep the Bobber inside my bedroom,’ he says, instantly giving away how obsessive he is about his beautiful motorcycle. ‘You know, initially, when I bought it, I thought I’d ride it on weekends, late at night; you know, just cruising around. Now, I just keep trying to find excuses to ride it!’ He’s the instantly disarming type and we’re, beyond this point, mere spectators of his story.

His love for his 42 Bobber is always in plain sight as he goes on to tell his tale. ‘For me, the 42 Bobber is an absolute rockstar. I should tell you, I had quite an entertaining chat with my girlfriend before buying it, but then I did anyway – and I love every single moment of it. That single-seat experience is just a state of mind! I’ve been to Goa, all over Kerala too, and I’m definitely not done yet!’

Does that kind of riding require him to become a hands-on sort of motorcyclist, then? ‘I am hands-on but the Jawa is a really well-built, well-engineered bike. I wouldn’t call myself an expert but I know that this bike is built to last. All I really need to do is to service it as per the intervals. That’s all! See, first of all, I do most of the basic maintenance myself – just the lubing, checking all the fluids etc. It’s a quick routine that goes a long way in keeping my bike running well. As for the proper service jobs, it’s been a really smooth experience; and it’s a Jawa – it’s really affordable to maintain,’ he says with an air of distinct comfort.

What, then, is the biggest takeaway from living with a bike as cool as that? That’s a question we’ve been waiting to ask. The query makes PJ assume a moment’s silence until the answer emerges. ‘It is therapeutic. Believe me, I’ve ridden lots of bikes before, but riding the 42 Bobber – or even just owning it – is soup for the soul. Every time I’m on it, it takes me into a higher dimension. That’s really how it feels.’ That’s perfectly relatable and convincing, to say the least.

It is often said that riding a motorcycle shapes you. But if that motorcycle happens to be a Jawa 42 Bobber, it redefines everything about you. In our pursuit of finding Stories of Legends, we’ve come across many such lives. Lives driven by speed, power and soul. We sincerely hope you’re next on our list of legends.
