2025 Yamaha XSR 900 unveiled with minor updates
  • Gets a new TFT screen
  • Engine updated in compliance with Euro+ norms

Yamaha has updated its mid-size, modern-classic roadster, the XSR 900, for 2025 overseas. The motorcycle has received a new five-inch TFT screen with smartphone connectivity which replaces the previous 3.5-inch unit. Other changes have been executed to its engine internals to meet Euro5+ emissions norms.

The new model also comes with two customisable riding modes, besides three preset modes (Sport, Street, and Rain) which were already available. To make aggressive downshifts safer, Yamaha has also included the Back Slip Regulator which works concertedly with a slipper clutch to reduce rear wheel lockups. Other changes have come to its suspension and the 2025 XSR 900 features a new fully-adjustable KYB monoshock at the rear along with a revised linkage.

The motorcycle remains unchanged in all other aspects. Powering the bike is the same 890cc, three-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that produces 117.3bhp at 10,000rpm and 93Nm of peak torque at 7,000rpm. The seat height of the bike sits at an accessible 810mm and the kerb weight is 193kg. It rides on 17-inch spin-forged wheels that are brought to a halt by a pair of Brembo’s radially mounted caliper at the front and floating caliper at the rear.

While the XSR 900 is unlikely to arrive on the Indian shores anytime soon, Yamaha might launch the MT-09 sometime in the future.
