Introduction
I’m a sucker for long rides. And, trips to my hometown, Mangalore, are always a delight. The 2,200km journey from Mumbai and back is a thrilling adventure, but it also poses luggage challenges. I prefer to spend a week in the coastal town, which means carrying a substantial amount of gear – clothes, office essentials, and gym gear. During my last ride in April, I encountered puncture issues on my Royal Enfield Himalayan 450. I wished I had extra tubes, but due to space constraints, I couldn’t. But not anymore! Say hello to the Viaterra TrailPack.
Construction
The Trailpack has been built using heavy-duty polyester fabric, ensuring durability and longevity. These all-weather bags have seam-sealed liners inside, making them fully waterproof. The company claims this bag can withstand water pressure of 5000mm. Each pack has an 8-litre capacity and owing to rollover sleeves, the bag can be used for lesser luggage too.
The Plan
My plan is to utilise the Viaterra Trailpack as primary storage for my Himalayan tubes. While the front tube doesn’t occupy much space, the rear tube due to its width occupies one Trailpack entirely. The other one I also used to store other essentials like a first-aid kit and air compressor. The Viaterra Trailpack is designed to be installed on the front frame of the Himalayan.
Due to its Velcro straps, it is quite easy to install and also uninstall. But because I carry the tubes everywhere I go, the packs are permanently attached to my bike.
