– New Pan America ST unveiled
– Gets road-focused wheels and suspension
– India launch likely
Harley-Davidson has expanded its famous Pan America line-up with the introduction of a new ST model. This variant has been introduced for riders who spend most time on the road and cover long distances.
The Pan America ST is a road-friendly motorcycle, and to achieve this, the American manufacturer has equipped it with specific cycle parts. Firstly, it features 17-inch wheels made from new cast aluminum. The Michelin Scorcher Sport tyres fitted on these wheels are also different, 120/70 at the front and 180/55 at the rear. To make the bike more fun to ride, the suspension travel at both ends has been reduced. However, it still features electronically adjustable preload on both sides, along with manual compression and rebound damping.
Powering the Pan America ST is a 1,252cc, twin-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that produces approximately 150bhp at 8,750rpm and a peak torque of 128Nm at 6,750rpm. The comprehensive electronics package includes lean-sensitive traction control, cornering ABS, an electronically linked braking system, hill hold control, cruise control, engine braking control, five pre-programmed riding modes, and three customisable modes.
The Pan America ST is priced slightly higher than the standard model but lower than the Pan America Special and CVO models. Hero MotoCorp will bring this bike to India this year, but it will be an expensive purchase.
