India-spec 2025 KTM 390 Adventure details revealed before launch
  • Different from the outgoing model in every aspect
  • Makes more power and torque
  • Gets a lower seat height yet higher ground clearance

KTM India has released the detailed specifications of the new 390 Adventure ahead of its price announcement. The motorcycle is different from its predecessor in almost every aspect and comes across as a more hardcore adventure tourer.

Based on a new split-trellis tubular frame, the new 390 ADV rides on a 21-17-inch tubeless spoke wheel combination, unlike the 19-17-inch alloy wheel setup on the outgoing model. These wheels are suspended by WP Apex USD forks upfront with 200mm travel and adjustability for compression and rebound in 30 clicks. At the rear, a monoshock with 205mm travel handles the suspension duties offering 20-click rebound and 10-click preload adjustment. Stopping power comes from a single 320mm disc with a radially mounted caliper up front and a 240mm rotor with a floating caliper at the rear.

Despite boasting a substantially lower seat height of 830mm, the ground clearance has gone up from 220mm to 227mm. However, the kerb weight has gone up marginally from 177kg to 183kg. The fuel tank capacity, meanwhile, continues to be the same at 14.5 litres. Coming to the heart of the matter, it is powered by the majorly revised 398.6cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine which makes 45.3bhp and 39Nm. That is an increment of 2.4bhp and 2Nm. This unit comes mated to a six-speed gearbox along with a slipper clutch and a quick shifter.

KTM has also transformed the design of the new 390 Adventure and it looks more purposeful. The new bodywork makes it visually resemble its bigger 790 and 890 siblings more than before. Unsurprisingly, KTM has crammed the bike with more electronic aids now and the package incorporates cruise control, switchable cornering traction control, cornering ABS, off-road ABS, and three riding modes including Street, Rain, and Off-road. All the data is displayed on a new five-inch TFT dash with Bluetooth connectivity.

The top-spec SW variant of the outgoing KTM 390 Adventure costs Rs. 3.64 lakh, ex-showroom. We expect the 2025 iteration to be slightly more expensive.
