Toyota sold a total of 26,178 units in the month of January 2025; The Innova (Hycross & Crysta) stood at the top spot followed by the Hyryder
Toyota Kirloskar Motors (TKM) will launch its first electric car in the Indian market in 2025. The Urban Cruiser EV was showcased in its concept form at the recently concluded 2025 Auto Expo. In addition to this, a new 7-seater SUV based on the Urban Cruiser Hyryder is also on the cards for this year. Giving a good start to the calendar year 2025, the Japanese carmaker sold 26,178 units in January, thereby acquiring the fifth spot in domestic sales tally.
This accounts for a considerable increase from the previous year’s figures of 23,197 units, registering a commendable YOY growth of 13%. The MOM analysis reveals a 5% growth as the company sold 24,887 units in December 2024. Talking about the model-wise sales, the Innova (Hycross & Crysta) continues to be the Japanese carmaker’s top performer with 9,780 units in the bag, registering a 4% YOY growth.
Similarly, the premium MPV gained by a marginal 1% in the MOM analysis. The popular mid-size SUV Urban Cruiser Hyryder’s sales bar stood at 4,941 units, an 11% decline over the previous year and an opposite trend can be observed in the SUV’s MOM sales where it saw a growth of 4%.

Trailing behind these high-volume puller are the Glanza and Fortuner with 3,455 and 3,149 units, respectively. The premium hatchback Glanza’s YOY sales declined by 8% and it also witnessed de-growth of 1% in the MOM analysis. One of the most sought after SUVs in India, the Fortuner saw a downwards trajectory with 2% YOY de-growth by selling 3,149 units in January 2025. The Taisor posted a sales of 2,470 units with a 6% MOM decline. The Maruti Suzuki Ertiga-based MPV, the Rumion posted sales of 1,944 units last month, registering a staggering 204% YOY growth.
The Hilux pick-up truck managed to sell 239 units last month, registering a YOY de-growth of 17%. Toyota sold 197 units of the new-gen Camry which was launched in India in December 2024, registering a YOY sales decline of 37%. Last but not least, the Vellfire finished the month by selling just 3 units and the YOY graph plummeted by 95%.

To conclude, the Rumion and Innova (Hycross & Crysta) are the only cars in the Toyota’s line-up which saw an upwards trajectory in YOY analysis while the Vellfire’s sales declined the most. Every model except the Glanza, Taisor and Vellfire experienced a decline in the MOM sales in January 2025.
