Yamaha FZ S Hybrid: What’s New?

Yamaha recently launched the new FZ S Hybrid in India which is the most expensive offering in the brand’s popular FZ line-up. In case you’re interested in buying this motorcycle anytime soon, here’s what sets it apart from the rest of its siblings.

Visuals

While the overall bodywork of the bike is the same as the standard FZS FI V4, Yamaha has integrated the turn indicators within the faux intakes that are a part of the fuel tank extensions. These indicators lend the bike a cleaner look. Moreover, it is available in two new shades including Racing Blue and Cyan Metallic Grey which don new set of graphics.

Updated Engine

The 149cc, air-cooled engine of the new FZ S Hybrid is compliant with the upcoming OBD-2B emission norms. Plus, it works with Yamaha’s Smart Motor Generator (SMG) which improves performance by delivering battery-assisted acceleration. However, the power and torque output numbers remain the same at 12.2bhp and 13.3Nm, respectively.

New Features

The new auto start-stop system in the FZ S Hybrid assist in saving some fuel by automatically turning the engine off when it is left idling for a few seconds. Turning it back on is just a matter of pulling in the clutch. Other new features include a silent start system and a 4.2-inc TFT screen with Bluetooth connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation.

More Convenience

Yamaha has slightly tweaked the handlebar position for greater comfort on long rides. The position of the horn and other buttons are also better optimised for easier reach while wearing gloves. Further, the fuel tank lid stays hinged to the tank while refueling adding to the practicality quotient.

Price Hike

The new Yamaha FZ S Hybrid is pegged at Rs. 1,44,800. That makes it around Rs. 14,000 more expensive than the top-end Deluxe variant of the FZS FI V4. The most affordable offering in this family is the Metallic colour variant of the FZ FI costs Rs. 1.16 lakh (all prices are ex-showroom).
