Tata Harrier EV 65 range revealed

Tata revealed prices for the Harrier EV RWD range yesterday, and today, the brand has revealed more details on its flagship electric car. Details on the more affordable and entry-level Harrier EV 65’s range, changing times, and other specifications have come to light. Without further ado, here’s everything we now know about the Harrier EV.

65kWh battery has up to 538km of ARAI range.

The base Harrier EV 65 – as its name implies – gets the 65kWh battery pack and has an ARAI-claimed range of 538km. The brand’s C75 figure, which the company says 75 percent of Tata EV owners can achieve, is 420-445km. As reported earlier, this 65kWh battery runs a 175hp, 315Nm rear axle-mounted motor. As a side note, we also now know that the frunk space in the Harrier EV RWD is 67 litres, compared to 35 litres in the AWD version.

7.2kW AC charger takes 9.3 hours to charge 65kWh battery.

Naturally, the Harrier EV 65’s 7.2kW AC fast-charging times are quicker than the larger 75kWh version. The more affordable Harrier EV can charge from 10-100 percent in 9.3 hours, compared to 10.7 hours for the larger battery. However, a 100kW DC fast charger takes the same 25 minutes to charge both batteries from 20-80 percent.

Regardless of the battery pack, Tata offers a lifetime warranty (15 years from the first date of registration). The brand also states that second owners can avail a 10 year/2 lakh km warranty package.

Harrier EV AWD has a gradebility of 47 percent, compared to 28 percent for RWD

Along with the 158hp front motor, the Harrier EV AWD (Tata calls it QWD) has a few features and systems not seen on the RWD versions. While all versions of the Harrier EV have 25.3-degree approach, 26.4-degree departure and 16.6-degree breakover angles, the AWD versions get an additional Boost drive mode, along with Normal, Snow/Grass, Mud, Sand, Rock and Custom terrain modes. The Harrier EV AWD also has a gradebility (the maximum incline a vehicle can climb) of 47 percent, compared to 28 percent for the RWD models.
