Two-wheeler gross sales hunch 11% in December 2021 | Autocar India

Semiconductor scarcity, freight prices hit the two-wheeler trade arduous.

The final month of 2021 turned out to be a gradual one for the Indian two-wheeler trade as gross sales slumped 11 %. The gross sales in December stood at 10,06,062 models as towards 11,27,917 autos in December 2020.

The slowdown is because of the persevering with semiconductor scarcity, excessive uncooked materials prices, scarcity of containers and excessive freight prices.

Hero MotoCorp offered 35,37,640 for the nine-month interval ending December 2021, which is a 13.eight % drop over the identical interval in 2020, when it offered 41,04,777 models. 

Honda offered 2,10,638 in December as towards 2,42,046 models in December 2020. For the interval of April-December 2021-’22, it offered 25,58,379 models, a 0.three % decline. 

Within the nine-month interval ending December 2021, Bajaj Auto offered 13,01,984 models, down 1.48 % from the 13,21,644 models it offered the earlier 12 months. 

TVS Motor Firm’s December gross sales have been down 17 % and between April-December 2021, it offered 15,09,615 models as towards 15,61,712 models within the year-earlier interval.

A complete of 1,11,15,915 two-wheelers have been offered within the April-December 2021 interval.
