Bajaj looking to develop hydrogen-powered two-wheelers

-New hydrogen two-wheelers could become a reality

-Bajaj exploring this green technology

-Will be developed under Chetak Technologies

Bajaj is looking to take its green vehicle initiatives to a whole new level. The company is exploring the possibilities of developing hydrogen-powered two-wheelers as well as three-wheelers.

This is the first time the Pune-based manufacturer has come out in the open with something related to this new project. These hydrogen-powered vehicles will be developed under its new company, Chetak Technologies Limited (CTL). Currently, the details are scarce about this project, but it is likely that the project has already commenced in the form of conducting feasibility studies.

Bajaj is a company that likes to try out new mobility projects. From introducing LPG-powered scooters many years ago to launching the Qute quadricycle – the company has tried its hands at a lot of projects. In fact, it will launch its first-ever CNG-powered motorcycle in May – making it a one-of-a-kind motorcycle in India.

Recently, the company appointed Abraham Joseph as MD of CTL. He was previously CTO at Bajaj Auto and is known for developing almost all successful two-wheelers like Pulsar, Dominar, and Platina for Bajaj. Through this new subsidiary, CTL, the company will also develop and sell future Bajaj and KTM electric two-wheelers. In fact, there are plans to start manufacturing Gas Gas products under this umbrella. We believe CTL will eventually go public to become one of the largest automotive companies in the country.
