The American SUV manufacturer has introduced the 2024 Jeep Compass Night Eagle Edition at a starting price of Rs 20.49 lakh (ex-showroom). It will compete against the newly-launched MG Hector Blackstorm Edition, Tata Harrier Dark Edition, and Mahindra XUV700 Napoli Black Edition. The special edition is available in Black, Red, and White color schemes with a Black roof. It receives an all-black treatment on the exterior and interior, while the engine setup remains unchanged.
The SUV’s special black edition features a gloss black radiator grille, door handles, and roof rails. The black 18-inch alloy wheels further enhance its sporty appearance. The 2024 Jeep Compass Night Eagle Edition has an all-black interior theme with additional features including a dashcam, ambient lights, air purifier, and entertainment screens for the rear seat passengers.
Other features onboard include a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Uconnect-5 and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 9-speaker audio system, wireless charger, 360-degree parking camera, ventilated front seats, leatherette upholstery, a panoramic sunroof, push-button start, dual-zone climate control, ventilated front seats, multiple airbags, ABS (antilock braking system), EBD (electronic brakeforce distribution), and more.
The Jeep Compass Night Eagle continues to come with the same 2.0L turbo diesel engine that produces a top power of 168bhp and a maximum torque of 350Nm. It can be paired with either a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 9-speed torque converter automatic transmission. The AWD system is exclusively offered on the automatic variants, while other variants get the FWD system.
In terms of fresh updates, Jeep is considering a lifestyle off-road SUV for India to challenge the dominance of the Mahindra Thar. The model is likely to come with serious off-road capabilities, including features such as a 4WD drivetrain setup, locking differentials, a body-on-frame chassis, and efficient powertrains. The American automaker will also foray into the highly-competitive mid-size SUV segment with a new model in the coming years.
