New Hero Mavrick 440 Scrambler name trademarked!

– Could get a wider handlebar for off-road riding

– Likely to get different wheels and tyres

– Trademark application filed recently

Hero MotoCorp has trademarked a new name for its probable upcoming offering, the Mavrick 440 Scrambler. Yes, the Jaipur-based bikemaker has filed for a scrambler based on its latest bike and here is what we expect.

Going by the name, we expect the Mavrick 440 Scrambler to get functional changes over the road-going model that is currently on sale. The list of changes could include new tyres that are better suited for off-roading, a wider handlebar for more leverage, an ergonomically tweaked seat, and perhaps repositioned footpegs too.

Compared to the current Hero Mavrick 440, the Scrambler is expected to get a rugged design, which should be suitable for its off-road character. We expect the Mavrick 440 Scrambler to use the same engine as the current bike – a 440cc single-cylinder motor that makes 27bhp at 6,000rpm and 36Nm at 4,000rpm and is linked to a six-speed gearbox. Hero could alter the state of tune slightly but we don’t expect any significant changes.

You can expect the front forks to get gaiters and the rear springs to remain the same. The wheel size might be altered and the Mavrick 440 Scrambler could come with a 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheel.

Another possibility for this trademark is to secure the name. Brands often register motorcycle names which are unlikely to be used just for the sake of it.
