Next-gen MG Astor: new design language
The SUV features a revamped front facia with a new grille, a sportier-looking bumper and redesigned headlamps. The bonnet of the new Astor appears slightly longer than the current version, while the nose looks boxier. The grille and bumper design seems to be inspired by the MG3 hatchback.
Moving to the sides, the mid-size SUV flaunts new alloy wheels, while it also gets a new shoulder line that curves upwards on the rear door. The glass area also looks slightly bigger than before. The Astor gets conventional door handles and lane-watch cameras mounted on the ORVMs.
At the rear, the wraparound tail lamps also get a new design. The tailgate and the rear bumper are also redesigned, and the registration plate might move from being mounted on the latter to the former.
Next-gen MG Astor: launch timeline
There is no official word from MG Motor regarding the launch of the next-gen Astor. The updated SUV is expected to make its global debut sometime late next year. An Indian launch is only expected to take place in 2026. Similar updates will also be carried over to the MG ZS EV, which is essentially the fully-electric version of the Astor.
MG is also expected to introduce a strong-hybrid powertrain for the new Astor in India. More details to be revealed closer to its launch. The new Astor is one of the eight products that MG has planned to launch in India between 2025-2028. Others include new Hector and Gloster, a new MPV, a new sedan, the Cyberster electric sports car, and more.
The Astor is currently priced in India from Rs 9.98 lakh to Rs 17.90 lakh (ex-showroom), and rivals Creta, Grand Vitara, Seltos, Elevate, Kushaq and Taigun.
