BMW Motorrad India recently launched its latest M-edition motorcycle, the M 1000 XR. It is not only the most expensive sports tourer from the German bikemaker but also the most powerful one. Here are five of its highlights.
Swanky Design
Just like its M-series supersports sibling, the new BMW M 1000 XR too gets a sporty and youthful design. It comes draped in black colour and carbon fibre parts including the wheels, side panels, front wheel cover, front fairing, and more. The black body colour is further complemented by two shades of blue with red on the strips. Overall, the M 1000 XR looks like a fast, and enticing sport tourer.
Powerful Motor
BMW has used a 999cc, inline-four engine that makes 201bhp at 12,750rpm and 113Nm at 11,000rpm for the M 1000 XR. It is linked to a six-speed gearbox and gets a quickshifter. BMW claims that the M 1000 XR can hit a top speed of 278kmph.
Feature Loaded
As is with the other BMW M bikes, the M 1000 XR too gets a truckload of electronics. The list includes four ride modes – Road, Dynamic, Race, and Race Pro with three settings, Dynamic Traction Control, wheelie control, a 6.5-inch TFT display, an OBD interface for the M GPS datalogger and a lap timer. Moreover, you also get launch control, a pitlane speed limiter, and a Brake Slide Assist function that allows the rider to drift the bike.
Premium Hardware
The BMW M 1000 XR rides on USD front forks with electronic self-adjusting rebound and compression damping. The monoshock too offers adjustability. The braking is done by a pair of 320mm front discs at the front and a single 220mm rear disc with dual-channel ABS. These are mounted on 17-inch wheels wrapped in 120/70 front and 200/55 rear tyres.
Asking Price
The asking price for the BMW M 1000 XR is set at Rs. 45 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). There are no direct rivals to the M 1000 XR.
