Bajaj Pulsar N125 spied testing

-Will get a new design

-Test bike has a halogen headlight

-Competes with the TVS Raider and Hero Xtreme 125R

Bajaj Auto has been busy testing what appears to be a new 125cc, premium commuter motorcycle. We’ve spotted the bike being tested near Pune and a close look at the test mule shows some interesting details.

While the bike is wrapped in camouflage, the body panels appear to be sharp with emphasis on visual mass. This is evident in the shape of the fuel tank with its pointy extensions and the large side panels that integrate seamlessly with the upswept tail section.

The headlight seems to have a sharp profile as well with a small windscreen. However, the test bike strangely has a halogen headlight instead of an LED headlight which is the norm. It could be a case of the headlight being a dummy unit while Bajaj finalises the production-spec headlight.

Under the bodywork, expect the Pulsar N125 to feature a frame derived from the Pulsar N150. The test bike seems to have the same 17-inch alloy wheels as seen on the N150. Other bits that are visible include a telescopic fork, monoshock and a simple box section swingarm. Braking duties are taken care of by a disc brake at the front and a drum brake at the rear. The instrument cluster appears to be a simple LCD display and should feature Bluetooth connectivity and navigation.

As for the engine, it is unclear whether Bajaj has developed a new air-cooled unit or has derived the single-cylinder engine from an existing Pulsar.

The new Pulsar N125 will have its work cut out once it is launched, possibly in six to eight months time. Because it will go up against heavyweights like the TVS Raider and the Hero Xtreme 125R, both of which are doing very well in the segment.
