Bajaj Auto recently launched the most affordable variant of its electric scooter, the Chetak 2901 edition. The scooter is priced under Rs. 1 lakh in India and this puts it in a good position to compete against the likes of the Ola S1 Air and the Ather 450S. Similar styling
The Bajaj Chetak 2901 features the same styling as the rest of the Chetak range. This should work in its favour as Chetak’s design offers a good blend of retro styling and modern appeal. Meanwhile, Bajaj plans to bring younger buyers into its fold by introducing bolder colour options for the Chetak 2901. It is available in five paint schemes – Red, Lime Yellow, White, Azure Blue, and Black.
Features
Bajaj has done some smart cost-cutting to offer the Chetak 2901 at under Rs. 1 lakh, but the company hasn’t refrained from offering a decent set of features on the scooter. The Chetak 2901 comes packed with a colour LCD instrument cluster with Bluetooth connectivity, LED lighting, and alloy wheels.
Optional TecPac
Customers can upgrade the features list by purchasing the optional TecPac. The TecPac enables features such as Hill Hold, call and music control, Reverse, Sport and Economy modes, follow-me-home lights, and Bluetooth App connectivity.
Specifications
As for its specifications, the Bajaj Chetak 2901 gets a 2.9kWh battery pack that offers an ARAI-certified range of 123km on a single charge. That said, the real-world range is expected to be around 90-100km. The scooter uses a 4kw electric motor and has a top speed of 63kmph. The Chetak 2901 doesn’t offer fast charging and the battery can be charged fully in six hours.
Availability and competition
Bajaj has commenced bookings for the Chetak 2901 across 500 showrooms in India. The scooter is priced at Rs. 95,998 (ex-showroom, Bengaluru). In terms of competition, the Bajaj Chetak 2901 rivals the Ola S1X, AtherRizta S, and the Ola S1X.
