Toyota India has officially teased the upcoming Urban Cruiser Taisor crossover in the country ahead of its launch on April 3, 2024. Being a rebadged version of the Maruti Suzuki Fronx, it will get a handful of cosmetic updates at the outside as well as inside the cabin. Mechanically, Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor will be offered with the same engine options as the Maruti Suzuki Fronx.
As far as front fascia is concerned, Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor is expected to flaunt a refreshed grille and a few other subtle updates, in-line with Toyota’s design philosophy. The side and rear profile is expected to be identical to the Fronx, except for the Maruti Suzuki emblem being replaced by the Toyota logo. Inside the cabin, it will borrow the majority of the features from the Fronx. One can expect bells and whistles like automatic climate control, heads-up display, 360-degree camera and a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. As for the safety features, the Urban Cruiser Taisor will get dual front airbags, ABS, EBD, and seat-belt warning as standard.
Under the bonnet, it will carry the same petrol engines as the Fronx in the form of 1.2L naturally-aspirated and 1.0L turbocharged units. The former will dish out top power of 89 bhp and peak torque of 113 Nm while the latter will deliver 99 bhp and 148 Nm. Both the engines will be available with a 5-speed manual transmission as standard. The company could also offer a 5-speed AMT unit with the 1.2L engine and a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox with the 1.0L powertrain as an option. The Taisor is expected to come with a starting price of Rs 8 lakh (ex-showroom). Besides the Maruti Suzuki Fronx, Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor will soon have rivals in the form of other SUV-coupes like Tata Curvv and Citroen Basalt.
