New Maruti Dzire to get upmarket looks
While the Dzire will share a lot of parts with the recently launched new Swift, it will be further differentiated from the hatchback as compared to its predecessors. The Dzire will get new headlamps, along with a new grille and front bumper – different from the ones seen on the Swift. The headlamps on the new Dzire are more rectangular in design and slightly bigger than the one seen on the Swift. HIgher variants will get multibeam LEDs while lower trims can be expected with standard halogen setup. The Swift now gets projector headlamps on all variants and this setup could be seen on new Dzire as well.
Previous spy shots revealed a fresh look for the rear with new tail-lamps, which now extend upwards. The license plate will continue to be positioned on the tailgate, just like the outgoing model.
The cabin is will have a lot in common from the new Swift, however, lighter colours are expected to be used to make the cabin feel airy. The 9-inch free-standing touchscreen, new HVAC controls, restyled dash, and the analogue instrument cluster with the 4.2-inch digital MID are all expected to be carried over. It will also offer a segment-first electric sunroof.
New Maruti Dzire will get new Z-series engine
The new Dzire will get the same Z12E engine that made its debut on the new Swift, replacing the K12 unit. The new 1.2-litre, three-cylinder NA petrol engine makes 82hp and 112Nm of peak torque, and will be offered with a 5-speed manual gearbox along with an optional 5-speed AMT. The new Dzire could even become the most fuel-efficient car in its segment, just like the Swift.
At launch, the Dzire will be available with the petrol powertrain only. However, a CNG option will be added later. It will continue to put up against the likes of Hyundai Aura, Honda Amaze and Tata Tigor.
