– New V-Storm 800 DE Rally Edition unveiled
– Gets titanium exhaust, new handlebar
– Will go racing this year
Suzuki has taken the wraps off a hardcore version of its famous V-Strom 800 DE. This is a Rally Edition developed by the Suzuki GB team.
The Japanese brand partnered with SR75 Suzuki World Team to develop this rally edition expected to participate in future rally races. In order to make the motorcycle win races, the company has installed a lot of lighter and better components.
The V-Strom 800 DE Rally gets a pair of new wheels which are also lighter. It also gets a titanium exhaust system along with an AS3 sump guard. The rear wheel has been upsized to 18 inches, and Dunlop D209RR off-road tyres have been used on both sides. For better stand-up ergonomics, the company has used AS3 handlebar risers and the bar has been borrowed from Suzuki’s RM-Z450 – which is a competition-spec MX bike. Other than these additions, the bike is also seen with SR75 racing livery which enhances the overall look of the motorcycle.
On the performance side, the company hasn’t made much changes. The same 776cc parallel-twin engine that makes 84bhp of peak power is used. This motor is mated to a six-speed gearbox and is known for excellent mid-range torque. The suspension system is stock as well, just like the handguards and windscreen.
There’s still no information on Suzuki’s plans to make this rally bike available to consumers. But if it doed, it would be priced quite high and would also help the brand build great value among its enduro customers.
