The last week was more about upcoming two-wheelers than new launches. Many brands like Honda, Royal Enfield, and KTM are prepping to introduce a bunch of new offerings and here’s a round-up of all these updates.
Honda Activa e: unveil
Honda has finally forayed into the Indian electric two-wheeler market by launching the new Activa e: It comes with a pair of 1.5kWh swappable batteries which deliver a claimed range of 102km on a full charge. These batteries power a 6kW permanent magnet synchronous electric motor that produces 22Nm of peak torque and the top speed is 80kmph. The zero to 60kmph spring timing is claimed to be 7.3 seconds.
2025 KTM 390 Adventure IBW showcase
The new KTM 390 Adventure will be showcased for the first time in India at the India Bike Week in December. The ADV has been highly anticipated, especially after its debut at the EICMA in Italy. The new model will replace the existing 390 Adventure in the Indian market. KTM is targeting a wide price point by launching multiple variants of the 390 Adventure. Word is that there may be three variants on offer- X, Standard and the range-topping 390 Adventure R.
Ola S1 Z and S1 Z+ launch
Ola Electric launched the S1 Z and S1 Z+ electric scooters in India. The scooters are priced at Rs. 59,999 and Rs. 64,999, respectively. Customers can book the scooters at Rs. 499. The Ola S1 Z is aimed at urban commuters while the Ola S1 Z+ is a dual-usage electric scooter designed for personal and commercial use. Both scooters pack a 1.5 kWh battery pack, which can be expanded into two packs. The IDC-certified range stands at 75km with a single battery pack, extendable to 146km with dual batteries.
Royal Enfield Scram 440 launch timeline
Royal Enfield took the wraps off the Scram 440 at the Motoverse 2024 this year and its launch will take place early next year. While the Scram 440 looks identical to the Scram 411, it has received major changes in terms of a new, and larger 443cc single-cylinder engine that makes 25.4bhp at 6,250rpm and a peak torque of 34Nm at 4,000rpm. It also gets a six-speed gearbox compared to the older 5-speed unit. Royal Enfield has also made other changes like adding a lighter clutch, tweaking the front brake for better bite, and strengthening the chassis for an additional 5kg payload at the rear.
5 Honda big bikes incoming
Honda India is expected to launch as many as four new big bikes and an adventure-style maxi-scooter in India soon. An image of what is being perceived as a dealer presentation slide has been circulating on the internet which shows these five presumably India-bound products. The same has also been confirmed by some of our dealer sources. The leaked image of the dealer presentation comprises the CB650R, CBR650R, CB1000 Hornet, CB750 Hornet, and the X-ADV.
