BMW R 1300 RT spied testing in Europe
  • Powered by a 1,300cc, boxer-twin engine
  • Features completely new styling
  • Will come loaded with electronic rider aids

The upcoming BMW R 1300 RT will be a successor to the R 1250 RT. The luxury touring motorcycle has been spied testing yet again in Europe, and this time around, more details about the R 1300 RT have been leaked.

Needless to say, the BMW R 1300 RT will be propelled by the new 1300cc, boxer-twin engine from the BMW R 1300 GS. The motor will produce 145bhp at 7,750rpm and a peak torque of 149Nm at 6,500rpm. Power will be transferred to the rear wheels via a shaft drive system, linked with a six-speed gearbox. BMW is reportedly also working on an automatic transmission for the R 1300 RT.

The test prototype of the BMW R 1300 RT appears vastly different from the outgoing model. It gets a vertically-stacked LED headlight, DRLs, and a transparent visor. The motorcycle’s fairing, although different in appearance, looks just as bulky as the R 1250 RT. As seen in these spy images, the R 1300 RT will come equipped with panniers and a top box as an option.

On the electronics front, we expect it to get multiple ride modes, traction control system, large TFT display with smartphone connectivity, ABS modes, and more. The motorcycle will feature BMW’s famous telelever suspension up front for better dynamics and comfort. We expect BMW to launch the R 1300 RT in international markets in early 2025.
