The highly awaited Toyota Land Cruiser Prado is speculated to re-enter the Indian market towards the end of this year

The new Toyota Land Cruiser Prado has generated strong interest in global markets. For India, the large-sized SUV is expected to make its debut sometime later this year via Completely Built Unit (CBU) route. It was expected to be unveiled at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo last month in New Delhi but it did not turn out to be the case.

The LC Prado embraces a retro-themed design, characterised by its upright stance and boxy proportions. Offered in multiple trims, it rolls off the line on 18-inch wheels fitted with all-weather tyres, enhancing its adaptability across various terrains. The base LC 1958 variant stands out with a vintage-inspired grille while the mid-spec model takes cues from the classic FJ62, featuring distinctive rectangular headlights that nod to its heritage.

The top-end variant distinguishes itself with unique design touches, setting it apart from the rest of the lineup. Adventure seekers may find the 2024 Land Cruiser First Edition particularly appealing as it comes equipped with wider wheels and off-road-focused enhancements. However, Toyota has yet to confirm which specific trims will make their way to the Indian market.

Constructed on the TNGA-F ladder frame, the Land Cruiser Prado is equipped with a 2.4-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine coupled with a 1.87 kWh battery. This hybrid powertrain works in tandem with an integrated electric motor and an 8-speed automatic transmission, producing 326 hp.

The 2025 Land Cruiser Prado comes in a selection of seven exterior shades elsewhere. Built for both urban roads and rugged landscapes, the SUV stretches 4,920 mm in length, 2,139 mm in width, and 1,859 mm in height. A generous 2,850 mm wheelbase should ensure ample cabin space while a 221 mm ground clearance enhances its off-road capability.

Each version of the latest Land Cruiser Prado comes standard with Toyota’s Safety Sense 3.0 suite. Higher-end trims elevate the appeal further, integrating a 12.3-inch infotainment display, a digital rearview mirror, and a premium 14-speaker JBL audio setup. Additional comforts include heated and ventilated leather seats, a moonroof, and a HUD.
