Vietnamese automaker VinFast gears up for Indian launch with two electric SUVs positioned in India’s soon-to-be popular segments
After foraying into Southeast Asian, North American, and European markets, VinFast is set to enter India this year. The Vietnamese automaker will launch two EVs in our market initially – VF 6 and VF 7. The VinFast VF 6 will be a Hyundai Creta Electric rival, but being imported as a CKD and only assembled in India, it could be pricier.
It measures 4,238 mm in length, 1,820 mm in width, and 1,594 mm in height and has a 2,730 mm wheelbase. VinFast offers the VF 6 with features like a panoramic sunroof, a 12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a head-up display, ventilated and heated front seats, and Level 2 ADAS functions.
The company makes it in two FWD variants, one with 130 kW (174 hp) and 250 Nm of torque and the other with 150 kW (201 hp) and 310 Nm of torque. A standard-fit 59.6 kWh LFP battery pack is officially expected (but yet to be confirmed) to give the former a WLTP range of 410 km and the latter 379 km.

The VinFast VF 7 will be a Tata Harrier.ev rival, but like the VF 6, it will be assembled from imported CKD kits, which could make it pricier. The C-segment SUV is 4,545 mm long, 1,890 mm wide, and 1,636 mm tall and has a 2,840 mm wheelbase. VinFast equips the VF 7 with features like flush door handles, 21-inch wheels, a 15-inch touchscreen infotainment system, vegan leather seats, a panoramic glass roof, and Level 2 ADAS functions.
VinFast builds the VF 7 in standard-range FWD, extended-range FWD, and extended-range AWD variants. The base variant has a 130 kW (174 hp)/250 Nm motor powered by a 59.6 kWh battery pack that delivers a NEDC range of 430 km. The mid-tier variant combines a 150 kW (201 hp)/310 Nm motor with a 75.3 kWh battery pack that returns a WLTP range of 450 km.

The top-end variant uses the same battery pack but sports two motors, producing 260 kW (349 hp) of total power and 500 Nm of total torque. It can travel up to 431 km on a full charge, as per WLTP. VinFast will follow a top-down approach, launching the VF 7 first and then the VF 6. The company plans to kick off sales of both models in the second half of the year.
