BYD India has officially launched the Sealion 7 electric crossover today following its local debut at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo last month in New Delhi. Pre-bookings are already open with a refundable deposit of Rs. 70,000. It has been made available in two variants namely Premium and Performance with the former costing Rs. 48.90 lakh (ex-showroom) and the latter being Rs. 6 lakh costlier.
The BYD Sealion 7 has already garnered over 1,000 bookings in India. It features the world’s first mass-produced 8-in-1 electric powertrain, integrating the VCU, BMS, MCU, PDU, DC-DC controller, onboard charger, drive motor and transmission into a highly efficient system. This launch marks BYD’s fourth passenger EV entry into the Indian market.
The BYD Sealion 7 electric crossover is available in four exterior shades: Cosmos Black, Atlantis Grey, Aurora White and Shark Grey. Featuring a sleek fastback silhouette, it sports a low-slung bonnet, ocean-inspired design elements, muscular wheel arches and sculpted body lines while sharp lighting details add to its futuristic stance.

The BYD Sealion 7 is equipped with an 82.56 kWh battery pack, providing a claimed range of up to 567 km on a full charge. The top-spec Performance variant packs a maximum power output of 523 bhp and 690 Nm of peak torque. It can go from 0 to 100 kmph in just 4.5 seconds, making it one of the quickest electric models on sale. It can be had in RWD or AWD configuration.
BYD claims that its Intelligent Torque Active Control (iTAC) system outperforms conventional power take-off reduction methods by utilising advanced torque management strategies. Rather than simply reducing power, iTAC dynamically adjusts drive torque in real-time through techniques like torque shift, precise reduction, and controlled negative torque output.

The BYD Sealion 7 is packed with high-end features such as a rotatable 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless smartphone connectivity. A fully digital instrument cluster keeps essential driving data within easy view while a panoramic glass roof, ADAS, a 360-degree camera setup, 20-inch wheels, flush door handles, flat-bottom steering wheel, crystal gear selector, HUD, 12-speaker audio, etc are also available.
