Aprilia India recently launched the Tuono 457 in India as its latest offering. It sits below the RS 457 but borrows the same engine, hardware and a bunch of bits from its faired sibling. If you are smitten by the new Italian streetfighter, then here are five of its top highlights.
Design
The Aprilia Tuono 457 has a completely different design language than its larger siblings, the Tuono 660 and the Tuono V4. Moreover, after seeing the RS 457 derive its design from the RS 660 and the RSV4, it is slightly disheartening to see the Tuono 457 not follow in their footsteps. The baby Tuono gets a centre-set LED headlight flanked by LED DRLs. It looks slightly polarising.
Features
Along with LED illumination, the Aprilia Tuono 457 comes with LED lights, traction control, ride modes, switchable ABS, and a colour TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity.
Engine
Powering the Tuono 457 is the same engine that we have experienced with the RS 457 – a 457cc parallel-twin that makes 46.9bhp and 43.5Nm and gets a six-speed gearbox.
Hardware
Aprilia has equipped the Tuono 457 with preload-adjustable USD forks and monoshock. Its braking duties are done by a disc brake at both front and rear, backed by dual-channel ABS. These are mounted on 17-inch wheels.
Price
The asking price for the Aprilia Tuono 457 is set at Rs. 3.95 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). It rivals the KTM 390 Duke which costs almost Rs. 1 lakh less at Rs. 2.95 lakh and the Yamaha MT-03 which retails at Rs. 3.50 lakh (all ex-showroom, Delhi).
