The Bajaj CNG bike, likely to be called the Bruzer, will be launched on 18 June. In the run-up to the launch, a few spy shots of a test bike have been spotted, of which, these are some of the clearest shots. Here’s more information on a bike that is expected to revolutionise the commuter motorcycle market.
The design of the bike appears to be a mix of form and function. There’s a round LED headlight with a cowl around it and a small flyscreen above it. The “fuel tank” and most of the side panels have a bulbous shape to accommodate the mid-mounted CNG tank and the petrol tank that sits above it. We’d seen this in detail when the blueprints of the bike surfaced on the internet.
The advantage of dual fuels will be seen in a long “tank range” between fill-ups. The petrol tank will also serve as a backup in case the bike runs out of CNG, allowing the rider to ride the bike to a CNG filling station.
Also, these images of the Bajaj CNG bike suggest that there’s a likelihood of two variants being introduced. One for the city-dweller and the other for more rugged terrains of rural and hinterland India. The latter gets a “sump guard” that covers the sloper engine’s head, knuckle guards, and a handlebar brace.
As for the chassis, the Bajaj CNG bike will feature a new frame that is suspended by a conventional telescopic fork and a mono-shock. Braking duties are taken care of by a disc brake at the front and a drum brake at the rear.
While the specs of the engine are unknown, word is that Bajaj might plonk a 125cc engine in the bike. This engine should be mated to a five-speed gearbox.
Lastly, Bajaj has been pricing its recent motorcycles very competitively and we expect this to be the case with the CNG bike as well.
