Maruti Swift VXi Variants In Demand; Over 19K Units Dispatched

It’s been nearly a month since the fourth-generation Maruti Suzuki Swift went on sale in the country. With its highly efficient Z-Series engine, more features, and improved styling, the hatchback’s new model is filling the big shoes of its predecessor. In the very first month of its market arrival, the carmaker managed to dispatch a total of 19,393 units of the new Maruti Swift across its Arena dealerships. The model has gathered over 40,000 bookings so far.

Interestingly, the mid-level VXi and VXi (O) variants are in great demand, accounting for 60 percent of the total bookings. While the fully loaded ZXi and ZXi (O) trims hold 19 percent of the total orders, the entry-level variants are relatively lower in demand, contributing 11 percent to the total numbers. Buyers are not very attracted to the Swift AMT variants, as evidenced by the fact that the hatchback’s AMT-equipped VXi and ZXi trims account for 17 percent of the total bookings, with 10 percent and 7 percent shares, respectively.

New Maruti Swift Review

The popularity of the new Maruti Swift VXi variant can be attributed to its well-featured interior. This trim offers a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, a 4-speaker audio system, a height-adjustable driver seat, steering-mounted controls, a day/night IRVM, a rear parcel tray, connected car tech, keyless entry, and a push-button start, along with the standard fitments. Prices of the high-in-demand VXi variants start from Rs 7.30 lakh and go up to Rs 8.07 lakh. The ZXi variants are available within the price range of Rs 8.30 lakh to Rs 9.50 lakh. All mentioned prices are ex-showroom.

All variants of the new Maruti Swift come with the new 1.2L, 3-cylinder Z12E petrol engine, which replaces the old K-Series motor. The new unit delivers a peak power of 82bhp and 112Nm of torque. The three-pot unit, available with a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT gearbox, boasts a claimed fuel efficiency of 24.8kmpl and 25.75kmpl, respectively.
