Intro
The first time I saw the Viaterra Pod 22 tail bag was when Anuj started using it on his daily commute. I was in the market to get something like this, and eventually, I convinced Anuj to give this bag to me and he did because he wanted something smaller. So the folks at Viaterra sent the 12-litre one. I was a happy soul because I was actually looking for something of this size for my daily commute.
What did I like?
Space! It has a lot of it. The Viaterra Pod 22 can be used as an office tail bag, and for that, space is a must, atleast for me. I not only carry my office essentials like laptop and chargers but also three different tiffin boxes including my protein shaker. So the 22-litre one was apt for me, as I could carry all of my essentials to work and back.
One of the major reasons I had my eyes on this bag was its ease of installation. Due to my long commute, I really can’t afford to waste any time for a ride prep. With the Viaterra Pod, it is almost a minute’s job. The holder is always placed under the pillion seat. So all I have to do is set the bag and use the straps to hook on to the holder.
Initially, I didn’t like the idea of holding the bag with a tiny strap because the entire load of the bag goes towards its entry point. But after using it for a few days, I felt it wasn’t just safe, but also helpful.
What I didn’t like?
The bag moves! Yes. Even after strapping as required, the bag keeps on moving and that isn’t confidence-inspiring. Once, I tightened the strap a little too much for my peace of mind ensuring the bag is safe and properly hooked. But once I reached the office, the laptop screen was damaged as the straps were a little too tight. This has never happened with me on any other tail bags I have used in the past. The sense of confidence isn’t there at all with the Pod 22.
What’s next?
It looks like the Viaterra Pod 22 will continue to be my daily commute bag and that means, I’ll be using it for almost 6000kms in the next two months. I’ll see if I can accommodate a two-day trip, and whether the bag can hold all the luggage.
