Force Motors is gearing up to introduce the Gurkha in both 3-door and 5-door configurations in the coming weeks. To generate interest among buyers, the company has released a new teaser video showcasing its silhouette and design elements. It’s worth noting that the 3-door version of the off-road SUV was discontinued with the implementation of the BS6 Phase II emission standards, which came into effect from April 2023. Now, the automaker will introduce its updated version to rival the Mahindra Thar 3-door. The Force Gurkha 5-door, on the other hand, will compete against the Thar 5-door, scheduled to make its global debut on August 15, 2024.

Both models are likely to come with the same 2.6L diesel engine sourced from Mercedes, paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox. While the power and torque figures are still undisclosed, the previous unit was capable of delivering a maximum power of 91bhp and 250Nm of torque. The teaser video reveals that the new Gurkha 5-door will feature a shift-on-the-fly 4WD knob placed near the driver’s seat on the center console. The discontinued Gurkha 3-door was equipped with independent front and rear diff-lock levers and a manually operated transfer case situated behind the gear lever.
In terms of design, both the Force Gurkha 5-door and 3-door will be similar, with a few styling differences such as rear doors, a longer wheelbase, and front and rear bumpers. The off-road SUVs will feature the same familiar two-slat grille, square headlamps, and newly-designed 16-inch alloy wheels with 245/70 R16 tires. The official teaser also confirms that the new Gurkha will be offered with multiple accessories such as a roof rack with a jerry can holder and a rear ladder.
Talking about pricing, the new Force Gurkha 3-door is expected to witness a minor price hike. Its discontinued model was available at Rs 15.10 lakh. The 5-door Gurkha is likely to cost nearly Rs 1 or Rs 1.50 lakh more than its 3-door counterpart.
