Kawasaki recently launched the much-hallowed Ninja ZX-4RR in India. This is a special motorcycle for more reasons than one. And in case you’re planning to buy it anytime soon or are too intrigued with it, here are five things you should know about it.
Inline four engine
The Ninja ZX-4RR is quite unconventional in terms of engine configuration. Although the displacement stands at just 399cc, there are four cylinders in an inline fashion and it’s highly revered for its screaming, high-revving nature. This unit produces 76bhp at 14,500rpm and 39Nm of torque at 13,000rpm. With a RAM air, the power output reaches close to 80bhp.
Premium components
Underpinning this little supersport is a steel trellis frame that is suspended by upside-down forks and a monoshock. The setup is sourced from Showa with preload adjustability at the front and full adjustability at the rear. Meanwhile, the braking hardware on this product comprises twin 290mm discs at the front and a single 220mm rotor at the back.
Electronic aids
The 4RR is decently loaded with rider aids for a 400cc motorcycle. It gets full-LED lighting and a 4.3-inch TFT screen which can paired with a smartphone through Kawasaki’s Rideology mobile application. Other features include four riding modes (Sports, Road, Rain, and Rider), two power modes (full and low), a three-level traction control system, and ABS.
Dapper styling
The Ninja ZX-4RR looks quite aggressive and sharp as it takes design inspiration from bigger Kawasaki sportbikes. Kawasaki has launched it in a single paint scheme in India named Lime Green/Ebony. It sports a ‘Kawasaki Racing Team’ decal on the fuel tank while the ZX-4RR sticker runs across the fairing.
Pricey proposition
The Kawasaki Ninja ZX-4RR is available in India as a completely built-up product which has taken its price close to the much bigger Z900. It costs Rs. 9.10 lakh (ex-showroom). While that’s exorbitant, the exclusivity and uniqueness that it brings to the table is unmatched.
